Tonal quality

This has always reminded me more of a drawing than a photograph - the light in southern France simply has a quality, as the Impressionists realized, unlike that elsewhere. Although I deliberately upped the contrast in this photo (both in the darkroom and with Picasa), still note the tonal quality. (WHW, France, 1970)
