More Fun with Photoshop

Not that you can do these kinds of things to journalistic pictures, but Photoshop sure is fun when you are going for straight "art" shots. I used the quick selection tool to select the snow cones and the purse strap. Then "cut" them out. Then used the layer command to make a black and white layer, pasted the color portion back in, and flattened the layers. I took this picture last week at Denver's Cherry Creek Arts Festival, using my little Nikon digital camera.

Composition and Timing

Composition, particularly the rule of threes, is critical to a good photograph. So of course is lighting. The issue that often brings all these elements together, and the one that is the toughest to control, is that of "timing." These two photographs, taken last week at Denver's Cherry Creek Arts Festival, illustrate the happy juxtaposition of timing and composition. These are taken with my 10 megapixel Nikon point and shoot.
